Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Attends the Fifth Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa

From November 5 to 6, 2018, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu attended at invitation the fifth Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa held in Senegal. Special Representative Xu Jinghu delivered a speech at the plenary session. She introduced the Chinese side's propositions and measures to make collaborative efforts to advance the peace and development in Africa, and stressed that the Chinese side will actively implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and further participate in Africa's peace and security affairs in a constructive manner, so as to make new contributions to realizing lasting peace and sustainable development in Africa.

During the Forum, Special Representative Xu Jinghu met with President Macky Sall of Senegal. Macky Sall asked Special Representative Xu Jinghu to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping. Speaking highly of Senegal-China practical cooperation in various fields and the fruitful outcomes achieved from the FOCAC Beijing Summit, Macky Sall expressed that as the African co-chair of the Forum, Senegal stands ready to enhance communication and coordination with the Chinese side to jointly promote Senegal-China relations and Africa-China relations for greater development.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings and best wishes to President Macky Sall. Special Representative Xu Jinghu expressed that President Xi Jinping paid a historic state visit to Senegal, and President Macky Sall attended the FOCAC Beijing Summit in China this year. The two heads of state reached important consensus on the development of China-Senegal relations as well as China-Africa relations. The Chinese side is willing to intensify coordination with the Senegalese side, and well implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, so as to better benefit the two peoples.
