Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li Holds Video Meeting with Diplomatic Adviser to President of Senegal Oumar Demba Ba

On January 21, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li held a video meeting with Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Senegal Oumar Demba Ba. Both sides exchanged views on China-Africa relations and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Deng Li said, as co-chairs of the FOCAC, China and Senegal play a leading role within the mechanism of the FOCAC. The new session of FOCAC will be held in Senegal this year, and China will provide full support for Senegal to host the FOCAC, ensuring that it will help China and Africa pursue cooperation for mutual benefit and common development at a higher level.

Demba Ba appreciates that China and Africa actively implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19, and expresses firm support for Africa-China solidarity and cooperation. Senegal is ready to work with China to keep close communication and coordination, prepare for the new session of the FOCAC, and strive for greater progress in Africa-China ties.
