Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan Held Talks With Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Minister

On June 25, 2002, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan held talks with visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija.

Tang Jiaxuan pointed out that relations between China and Bosnia-Herzegovina have been developing smoothly since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said that the Chinese government has always attached importance to developing friendly relations of cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina and respected its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Following the principles enshrined in the communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations, China is willing to join efforts with Bosnia-Herzegovina in promoting an all-round development of bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

Lagumdzija said that as Taiwan is an indivisible part of China's territory, Bosnia-Herzegovina supports China's stand on the Taiwan issue as well as China's reunification. He also added that Bosnia-Herzegovina is willing to develop friendly relations of cooperation with China on the basis of mutual respect and benefit.

Tang expressed his appreciation for Bosnia-Herzegovina's One China stance.

The two ministers also exchanged views on cooperation between the two foreign ministries as well as the issues of common concern such as the regional and international situation.
