Leaders of Antigua and Barbuda Meet with Vice Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong

On June 14, 2004, Governor General James B. Carlisle and Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer met respectively with visiting Vice Chinese Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong and his delegation. The leaders of Antigua and Barbuda indicated that their new government cherishes the friendly and cooperative relations with China and would continue to adhere to the one-China policy, oppose "Taiwan independence" and remain committed to expanding cooperation with China in various fields. Vice Foreign Minister Zhou expressed his appreciation for the right stance of the government of Antigua and Barbuda on the Taiwan issue and noted that China would like to make joint efforts with Antigua and Barbuda to promote continuous development of friendly and cooperative bilateral relations. During his visit, Zhou signed the Agreement on Economic and Technological Cooperation Between the People's Republic of China and Antigua and Barbuda with Prime Minister Spencer, and exchanged views and reached broad consensus with Minster of State Baptiste and Permanent Secretary Murdoch of the Foreign Ministry of Antigua and Barbuda respectively on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common interest.
