On December 21, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping had a phone conversation with Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexander Venediktov. The two sides mainly exchanged views on China-Russia relations and counter-terrorism cooperation, among other issues.

Cheng Guoping said that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era is at its best in history and continues to advance to a higher level, and bilateral cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. Currently, global counter-terrorism has entered a new round of accelerated evolution. China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Russia in counter-terrorism, among other fields, so as to jointly address the threat of terrorism and maintain international and regional security and stability.

Venediktov said that Russia speaks highly of the unprecedented high level of the Russia-China strategic partnership of coordination and security cooperation between the two sides is an important area of Russia-China relationship. Russia is ready to work with China to implement the consensus reached by the two leaders, deepen counter-terrorism cooperation, and promote bilateral relations and world peace and stability.
