On December 3, 2020, Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Foreign Ministry Jia Guide held a video consultation on international law with Legal Adviser and Director-General of the Legal Directorate at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the UK Iain Macleod. Both sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on important topics of international law, such as current situation of international law, maintenance of the multilateral order, policies and practices of international law in the two countries, pandemic prevention and control, diplomatic privileges and immunities, laws of the sea, and elections at international legal organizations. Both sides agreed that it is helpful to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation on important issues of international law through consultation, and that they will further strengthen communication and exchanges on relevant issues.
