On September 19, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in India held a Seminar on the theme of “Deepening Reform to Advance Modernization: How China and India Could Contribute to Each Other’s Success”. Ambassador Xu Feihong delivered a keynote speech. Sudheendra Kulkarni, Founder of the Forum for a New South Asia, G. Devarajan, General Secretary of All India Forward Bloc, Vijay K. Mishra, Executive Vice Chairman of India China Trade Centre, Himadrish Suwan, Chairperson of Confederation of Young Leaders of India and Charu Das, Director of CD Foundation,as well as representatives from India’s political parties, think tanks, media and youth attended the Seminar.
Ambassador Xu Feihong said that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China sounded the clarion call for further deepening reform comprehensively, opened up broad prospects for Chinese modernization, and demonstrated China’s firm determination to expand opening up. Both China and India are at a critical stage of national development and rejuvenation. We should adhere to the guidance of the important consensuses reached by our leaders and find ways for neighboring countries to get along well, focus on the well-being of the people and share the opportunities of modernization and development. We should uphold the interests of developing countries and jointly advance the modernization of Global South. It is hoped that people from all walks of life from the two countries push forward the sound and stable development of China-India relations.
The Indian participants said the Seminar is highly important, and its scope is vast. In the rapidly evolving global landscape, the partnership between India and China stands as a linchpin for Asia’s development, world peace, and the overall advancement of humanity. The two countries should properly handle differences, and strengthen exchanges of experiences in the areas such as poverty elimination, rural revitalization, democracy, technology, and environmental protection, joining Hands to Advance Modernization.
