On June 11, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Director for East Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Santo Darmosumarto.

Liu Jinsong said this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership. China is ready to work with Indonesia to follow the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and enrich the China-Indonesia community with a shared future. China supports the work of Indonesia as the rotating president of ASEAN, takes ASEAN as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and supports ASEAN centrality. China is ready to work with ASEAN countries to continuously advance the building of a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home and jointly uphold the unity, stability and development of the region.

Santo Darmosumarto said that the two countries have had close high-level interactions this year. Indonesia is ready to strengthen policy communication with China, follow through on the plan of action for comprehensive strategic partnership and deliver more results. He expressed the hope that China will give greater support to the work of Indonesia as the rotating president of ASEAN. Noting that Indonesia has joined the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative, he said that Indonesia is ready to actively study the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and expects China to continue to play an important role on regional hotspot issues.
