On June 12, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong held a work consultation in Shanghai with Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takehiro Funakoshi. The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China-Japan relations and other issues of mutual interest and concern and agreed to continue to maintain communication with each other.
