Vice President of Côte d'Ivoire Tiémoko Meyliet Koné Meets with Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi

On December 9, 2022, Vice President of Côte d'Ivoire Tiémoko Meyliet Koné met with Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi at the Presidential Palace. They exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest and concern.

Liu Yuxi said that under the care and support of President Xi Jinping and President Alassane Dramane Ouattara, the China-Côte d'Ivoire relationship has developed rapidly, and is at its best in history. China appreciates the understanding and support Côte d'Ivoire has given to China on issues involving China's core interests and major concerns, and sees Côte d'Ivoire as an important cooperative partner. Currently, the Chinese people are embarking on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all respects. China is ready to take the 40th anniversary of China-Côte d'Ivoire diplomatic relations as a new starting point to further consolidate political mutual trust, and deepen development cooperation, to constantly elevate bilateral relations to higher levels, and march forward hand-in-hand toward greater development and prosperity.

On behalf of Côte d'Ivoire, Koné once again extended congratulations on the success of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and noted that Côte d'Ivoire-China relations have maintained sound momentum of development in recent years. Côte d'Ivoire sincerely thanks China for helping it finish a large number of infrastructure projects, which is of great significance for its national development and improvement of people's livelihood. Côte d'Ivoire is ready to increase exchanges with China at all levels, welcomes more Chinese companies to the country to make investment and expand cooperation in such fields as agriculture, infrastructure and energy, and will continue to show mutual support with China on issues involving each other's major concerns to safeguard common interests.

Special Representative Liu Yuxi paid a friendly visit to Côte d'Ivoire from December 7 to 10 at the latter’s invitation. During the visit, he also met with Minister of State, Foreign Affairs and Integration of Côte d'Ivoire Kandia Kamissoko Camara, and had informal discussions with representatives of major Chinese enterprises in Côte d'Ivoire.
