Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming Meets with Former Government Officials and Friendly Personages of the United Kingdom

From 30 March to 3 April 2023, during his visit to the United Kingdom, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming had meetings respectively with former Minister for the Cabinet Office David Lidington, former First Secretary of State Peter Mandelson and former Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond, as well as a virtual meeting with renowned financier Lord Jacob Rothschild, and attended a roundtable hosted by Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang. At those events, Liu Xiaoming exchanged views with British attendees on the Korean Peninsula issue, China-UK relations, and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Liu Xiaoming shared China's policy and position on relevant issues and said that the Global Security Initiative and the Global Development Initiative of China present plausible proposals for the political settlement of regional hotspot issues, the maintenance of international peace, and the realization of peace and development for mankind. He expressed China's readiness to work with people from various secotrs of the UK to promote sound and steady growth of China-UK relations.

People on the British side appreciated the active role played by China in addressing regional hotspot issues and promoting global peace, stability and development. They also expressed the willingness to make their contribution to growing mutually beneficial cooperation between the UK and China.
