On September 29, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with the new Swiss Ambassador to China Burri Juerg.

Welcoming Burri Juerg's assumption of office, Deng Li noted that China and Switzerland enjoy close exchanges at all levels and broad prospects for cooperation. The two sides should join hands to continuously expand practical cooperation in economy and trade, finance, science and technology, green development and other fields, so as to elevate the China-Switzerland innovative strategic partnership to a new height.

Burri Juerg said being one of the first Western countries to recognize the People's Republic of China, Switzerland has benefited from China's rapid development, and he is ready to contribute to greater progress of Switzerland-China relations during his tenure of office.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
