Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei recently met with Kuwait’s new Ambassador to China Sadiq Marafi and new Consul General in Hong Kong Naser Alghanim respectively.

Ambassador Zhang extended a welcome to Sadiq Marafi and to Naser Alghanim on their appointment and briefed them on the current situation of China’s economic and social development and Hong Kong’s achievements over the past 25 years since its return to China. With an enduring bond of friendship, China and Kuwait always give each other support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and forge ahead with a stable political foundation, Ambassador Zhang said, adding that faced with complex and fluid dynamics in the international situation over the years, China-Kuwait strategic partnership has come a long way under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries and with concerted efforts from both sides. China stands ready to work with Kuwait to deepen our high-level exchanges, extend our practical cooperation and strive for closer people-to-people exchanges, thus lifting bilateral strategic partnership to a new height.

Both Sadiq and Naser said it is a great honor to serve in China. Kuwait always treats China as its trustworthy friend and good partner and treasures the longstanding friendship between the two sides. Kuwait is willing to join hands with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders, advance mutually-beneficial cooperation on various fronts, and contribute to future progress in Kuwait-China strategic partnership. Naser also noted that Kuwait supports the Chinese government’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and security and maintain the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, and will continue to scale up friendly exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong.
