On December 28, 2022, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Director-General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Fatima Al-Salem to brief her on the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and have an exchange of views on closer press cooperation between the two sides.

Ambassador Zhang said that the 20th CPC National Congress laid out strategic plans for building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts, adding that China will continue to bring new opportunities to Kuwait and other countries around the world through its new development. As the official state news service in Kuwait, KUNA has played a positive role in giving the people of Kuwait a true, multidimensional and all-round understanding of China and enhancing public support for our friendship. President Xi Jinping and Crown Prince Mishal had a successful meeting not long ago where they had reached abroad consensus on deepening China-Kuwait strategic partnership, adding strong momentum to our future cooperation in press and other domains. He expected media organizations of the two countries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation and make greater contributions to closer ties between the two peoples.

For her part, Fatima stressed that KUNA always pays high attention to development and changes that take place in China and values exchanges and cooperation with its Chinese counterparts, saying that the agency will play a bigger role in cementing bilateral friendship. Noting the rapid progress in digital economy, artificial intelligence and other areas made by China over recent years, she said that KUNA is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Xinhua News Agency and other Chinese media outlets, and learn from China’s advanced technologies to facilitate the establishment of the country’s ominimedia system and promote integrated development of local media.
